India Clinched their first silver at the London Olympics . Ace Shooter , Vijay Kumar bagged the coveted medal in the 25 metre Rapid Fire Pistol event.

Vijay Kumar recorded a score of 30 in eight series of 4 seconds each.He finished behind Cuba's Leuris Pupo who shot 34 to equal the world record. The bronze went to China. Vijay Kumar's medal is India's second in the London Games.Gagan Narang had accounted for the country's first medal when he won a bronze in the 10 metre air rifle event.

The 2012 Olympic Games open in London tonight. Around 15,000 artists will perform at the opening ceremony, which will begin at 1:30 AM Indian Standard Time.
